What is good for retwisting my dreads and cleaning them in between visits to the salon.  I read that commercial shampoos are a waste of money and rather are not conducive to properly cleaning dreadlocks.
............................................

Real Black soap aka Alata Samina and Pure Shea aka Karite Butter are the most important elements that I use to cultivate the health of natural hair.   For dreadlocks, I use black soap to thicken up the hair and make it more textured, especially if the patron has had a perm or uses a lot of conditioners.  Conditioner tends to make hair too silky for the locking process to commence. For Loc Extensions, black soap is great to use to avoid hair extension slippage. When shampooing, the loc extensions can slide out when using products that contain slick emollients like commercial gels and waxes that contain dyes, fragrances, mineral oil and petroleum. This will defeat the purpose of getting the style in the first place. Rather you can retwist your
locs with bornu butter, our specifically formulated herbal infused - shea butter product conducive for all stages of dreadlocks. For the skin, when used in conjunction with bornu butter and eating the proper foods as medicine for the body, black soap esteems the skin to relieve eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and seborrhea.
Ingredients used in black soap consist of water, cocoa pod ashes, plantain peel ashes, coconut, palm oil, orange fiber, natural glycerine.

Introducing, the Bornu Phyto-therapeutic sulfur enriched seaweed shampoo. In my opinion, healthy dreadlocks are manifested by creating a micro-environment of relevance found at the cellular level. This is characterized by the accumulation of natural constituents found already in the hair. Hair makeup consists of sulfur, keratin, and protein. Spirulina contains a large amount of Vitamin B 12 plus a growing treasure of bioavailable nutrients. Historically it has been used externally to promote hair growth. Ginseng helps with scalp circulation, boost the immune system & contains antioxidants that help rid the body of free radicals. Externally, the use of Irish moss conditions dry hair. It is also used for itching burning skin diseases, scalp inflammations by softening the skin which subsequently prevents premature wrinkling and hair loss due to Demodex infestation.
May I suggest that you use this once or twice a week. First, soak
your locs thoroughly with warm water. Apply my shampoo in generous amounts all over. Massage into lather up. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes then rinse. Towel dry then apply bornu butter to condition, twist, set and style. The rich sweet sulfuric scent of sea moss is potent.  I hint it with a dash of herbals, rose water and almond.
